The Senior Quality Engineer role reports to the Director Quality/Food Safety Systems, Standards & Specifications- Juices and Dairy. Primary purpose of the role is to execute/co-lead global/sector teams in the development, maintenance, communication, and implementation of Global Quality/Food Safety Systems, Standards and Specifications in the establishment of appropriate harmonized quality/food safety systems, standards and specifications for juices (chilled and ambient) throughout the global beverage supply chain.This role is actively engage in the successful creation and execution of strategic global quality systems, standards and specifications, creation and administration of strategic quality systems audits to assess sector/regions against those standards, including executing and administering a system of global audit metrics based on in-plant capability, food safety assessments and in-trade performance, while supporting the successful implementation of an effective strategic quality assurance system for juices (chilled and ambient). This Global Beverage Position must align with the PepsiCo Global Quality team to ensure consistency across PepsiCo's global portfolio as well as interface and collaborate with wide array of stakeholders (Global SRA Quality & Food Safety Policy, Global Quality Council, Pepsico Worldwide Flavors, Product Development, Supply Chain, Procurement, Commercialization, Operations, Quality and Technical).

Key Responsibilities:



  • Support (and Lead, as needed) the development, alignment, communication and execution oversight of an effective Strategic Quality System for global juices (chilled or ambient).

  • Execute Strategic Global Quality/Food Safety Systems Audits in Support of Delivering Consistent Brands to Customers and Consumers. Actively engaged in quality/food safety systems audits designed to assess compliance to systems and standards at the sector/regional level.

  • Support PepsiCo's beverage/foods businesses including Pepsi (CSD brands), Gatorade, Propel, Tropicana, Naked Juice, Dairy and the Global Nutrition Group in the successful creation and execution of a Strategic Global Quality/Food Safety System.

  • Execute and verify effectiveness of global metrics strategic systems based on in-plant quality capability, food safety assessments and in-trade performance ensuring seamless execution of a global quality/food safety assurance process.

  • Execute quality/food safety systems activities in support of risk mitigation and business commercial needs.

  • Active engagement in highly complex problem-solving exercise. Execute quality/food system and standards implementation assessments including but not limited to process capability, food safety, and service throughout the supply chain.

  • As needed, provide and actively support new/existing beverage (juice) platform product and package commercialization process.


This responsibility may include any/all of the following:



  • Generate and champion new ideas and initiatives leading to successful commercialization through the use of strategic quality/food safety systems.

  • Identification and use of quality and food safe ingredients identify/develop/implement appropriate standards and claims (Non GMO, Organic, etc.), HACCP plans and Allergen requirements including storage, handling, sanitation and training for incoming vendor materials and PepsiCo products.

  • Establishing specifications and standards you and your team to will be required to develop, write and publish specifications, standards and systems for all of PepsiCo's Juices (chilled and ambient). Ensure regulatory and microbiological requirements/challenge testing are identified, specified, and included in the quality system and quality system audits in order to trust but verify.

  • Develop and implement quality/food safety systems including Manufacturing Control Plans and supporting Quality/Food Safety documents associated with the use of new ingredients and technology initiatives.

  • Use appropriate statistical methods to define process capability for new and existing vendors along the supply chain in order to identify material variability, and manufacturing and/or process gaps in quality systems and standards implementation.

  • Utilize Quality Tools such as Six Sigma, FMEA's, and Risk Assessments to facilitate development activities, identify potential issues/risks and formulate mitigation steps prior to commercialization.

  • Review and develop strategic global assessments of, co-packer, third party and vendor facilities to ensure compliance to established procedures, requirements and specifications.




Qualifications:



  • A Bachelors degree in the Sciences or equivalent, advanced degree preferred.

  • A minimum 10 to 12 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Food Safety Assurance, Quality/Food Safety Control, Quality Engineering, New Product Development, Manufacturing, R&D/Technical and/or related and equivalent experience. Minimum 2 year's experience in a manufacturing Quality/Food Safety leadership role and minimum 3 years' experience in a corporate Quality/Food Safety role

  • Demonstrated leadership in Quality Assurance, Food Safety Assurance, Quality/Food Safety Control, Quality Engineering, New Product Development, Manufacturing and/or R&D/Technical positions requiring successful interface with all these disciplines.

  • Effective leadership, negotiation, influencing, motivational, coordination, and communication skills across a diverse global and multi-cultural fast paced organization.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven results through listening, coaching and communicating with integrity

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with cross functional partners.

  • Proven strategic leadership with ability to motivate teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to rally technical, functional, and business management support to enable new product objectives and goals,

  • Proven ability to manage pipeline of talent: hire and build team and skill base for organizational success, use of rewards and recognition to motivate team, ensure knowledge retention within the organization.

  • Global Travel - 40-75%

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in:



    • Beverage processes including hot fill, high/low acid aseptic, dairy, and retorting.



    • Packaging systems including PET/plastic bottles, aluminum/steel cans, glass, and aseptic package forms.



    • Six Sigma/statistics and process capability/FMEA.



    • Ability to identify critical data and distill into business-focused technical recommendations.
